Round 4 of VoICE will be departing in October 2012. YCA is recruiting for an Early Childhood Educator (Belaku Trust) and a Urban Planner (JCCD). See below for full position descriptions. | | | | | The Belaku Trust was established in 1995 by a group of health and social science professionals who believed that there was a need for rigorous research and increased community collaboration in order to improve the health of those living in rural communities in the Kanakapura region. The research findings which have been generated by Belaku have facilitated a much greater understanding of the issues in the region, and as a result Belaku has been able to implement a number of highly successful initiatives. Initially focusing on women’s and children’s health and nutrition, Belaku have since expanded to work in a number of areas which affect the wider determinants of health, including income generation and scholarship programs. The October 2012 position with the Belaku Trust is an Early Childhood Educator who will provide training support to Belaku’s Field Staff and local communities. More details on the Belaku Trust placements are available in the Position Descriptions below. | | | | Freedom Foundation | Freedom Foundation is a pioneer in the fields of substance abuse & HIV/AIDS interventions, and are the largest NGO working in these sectors in India. Freedom Foundation was responsible for the very first HIV ‘Comprehensive Community based Care and Support Centre’ (CCSC) in India. They have been presented with an ‘Excellence in Community Care’ award by UNAIDS, and have been recognised by UNAIDS as a ‘Best Practice’ organisation on comprehensive care. The Foundation works across a number of areas, including anti-retroviral treatment, employment assistance programs, diagnostic services, care for HIV positive abandoned orphans, and interventions to prevent parent to child transmission. | | | | Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy (JCCD) | JCCD is a not-for-profit organisation with the vision of transforming the quality of life in urban India. JCCD work towards this goal by supporting and empowering citizens to identify, act on, and resolve social, infrastructure, political and environmental issues in their communities. JCCD work across a number of programs at a city and national level, including programs advocating citizens to vote, facilitating community leadership, and running citizen education programs in schools and communities. The October 2012 position with JCCD is an Urban Planner who will work with the India Urban Space Foundation (IUSF) to conduct trend analysis, GIS projects, field studies and case studies for current IUSF projects.
