Youth Challenge Australia’s international programs are unique from other programs in that we rely less heavily on core funding from the government and are therefore less bound by donor demands. The participation fee is vital to the ongoing operation of YCA and our partner organisations. YCA volunteers can participate on projects that YCA and the communities feel are necessary and important. YCA is an extremely well respected organisation in our project countries as we are able to respond quickly to community needs.
Your participation fee goes towards program and organisation development costs of Youth Challenge Australia and our in-country partners as well as the physical costs incurred towards supporting volunteers on projects. Your participation fee is vital to the sustainability of our programs and partners.

NB: INCREASE TO PARTICIPATION FEE EFFECTIVE MAY 3 2010. This increase applies to any volunteers who applied on or after May 3 2010, also including those who have deferred their project past this date of increase.
THE FEE INCLUDES:
We strongly recommend that you consider fundraising your participation fee and flight costs. YCA will support you by providing handy tips on some of the most effective and successful ways to fundraise; from holding a trivia night in your favourite pub to writing letters of appeal to interested donors. It is amazing what you can raise when you tell people about the great work that you will be doing. Donations are eligible for tax-deductible receipts (Central Australia and West Arnhem Land excluded).
International Field Program Fee includes:
Preparation:
Selection process, interviewing and communication materials;
Preparation, materials and support for volunteers whilst in Australia;
Pre-Departure training (in Sydney prior to departure);
Airport transfers to & from the airport upon arrival & departure in-country.
Project:
In-country orientation (2 – 5 days) upon your arrival;
Food;
Transport;
Accommodation;
Insurance (as detailed in the insurance section up until 14 days after project finishes);
Full time trained Field Staff member whilst on project;
Support of Program Partner / Program Manager whilst on project;
Support materials and resources whilst in your community;
Communication equipment (email, telephone, satellite phone etc);
